Polls unfortunately start too early–before all the candidates have a chance to get their neames–let alone their positions on the issues–out in front of the poll respondents, with the result that people fall back on names they’ve heard before–and all of a sudden you have “frontrunners” who have higher “electability,” and then the stampede of the sheep starts, where everybody tries to guess whom everyone else will consider electable. In the process very few people vote their honest choice.

The sad thing in this race is that so far the prominent evangelical and conservative spokespeople seem to have fallen into that same trap, and hardly any have backed Rep. Hunter who is the OBVIOUS match to their ideal positions on all the issues.
