Today is a sad day for conservatism. Another candidate has dropped out of the GOP race, one of the few candidates that can actually be considered conservative. Right now, the media is shoving several moderate candidates down our throats, and forcing the actually conservative candidates to the bottom of the race. Tom Tancredo was one such candidate.
Not only was Tom Tancredo one of the few conservatives in the race, he was one of the few that could be trusted when it comes to the issue of border security; and he is an expert on it too. Now that he has left the race, where are those of us to turn that support actually securing our borders?
Unfortunately, the media seems to be dead set against the candidates that want to actually secure the border and protect our sovereignty. The media is obsessed with the current front-runners, which is evidence to me they should not be trusted:
Mitt Romney: See this article showing how he has flip-flopped on immigration: http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Romney%27s+migration%3a+He+shouldn%27t+need+to+lie&articleId=916a6347-2df9-4199-9050-1e684d0a0f7e
Mike Huckabee: See this for just about all the info you need: http://dhgrassrevolt.wordpress.com/2007/11/07/governor-mike-huckabee-speaks-for-himself-on-immigration/
Fred Thompson: Has hinted that he supports path to citizenship programs (see this comparison sheet between him and Duncan Hunter, where Fred shows his true colors on amnesty, http://dhgrassrevolt.wordpress.com/2007/12/07/huckabeehunter-and-thompsonhunter-comparison-sheets/
Thompson also has supported NAFTA and its expansion. (Numbers USA has beefed up Thompson’s record a bit, making it look better than it did a few months ago. Here is an article delving into Thompson’s past, http://dhgrassrevolt.wordpress.com/2007/10/13/gary-c-huggins-illegal-immigration-history-of-fred-thompson-and-his-campaign-assistant-spencer-abraham/
John McCain: McCain-Kennedy (enough said)
Rudy Giuliani: Has connections to NAFTA through is law firm, supported sanctuary city policies in New York. Has some of the WORST ratings from NumbersUSA of anyone running.
—-
This is all not to mention the other shortfallings these candidates have when it comes to other important conservative issues, that candidates such as Tancredo and Duncan Hunter are much better on.
—-
I support Congressman Duncan Hunter, and hope you will join me.
Duncan Hunter understands the border crisis: He built a border fence in San Diego that cut human and drug trafficking by 90%, and wrote a bill trying to get it built across the rest of the border.
Duncan Hunter has foresight, a part of his strong leadership skills: Duncan worked as Ronald Reagan’s ‘go-for’ in Congress for many years, but was not afraid to disagree with Reagan when it came to the borders. At one point, Reagan attempted to push a form of amnesty and Duncan predicted that it would cause a rush for the borders. 10 years and 12 million people later, we know he was right (by the way, Reagan admitted himself later that it was a bad idea).
Duncan Hunter has a PERFECT rating from Americans for Better Immigration/Numbers USA
Duncan Hunter still has a chance. It has been said that this race likely will not be cut and dry until well until February. Duncan is smartly campaigning in states other candidates are ignoring, which may prove very important, and could cause a surprise in the next several weeks.
Duncan Hunter was against Most Favored Nation trade status with China before it was cool to be so.
Duncan Hunter was, and still is, against NAFTA and CAFTA (he voted against them)
Duncan Hunter is the sponsor of the life at conception bill, an attempt at federally ending abortion (which he authors and brings forward every year).
Duncan Hunter promises to have the border fence done in 6 months after being elected (if he can find a way to get back the funding the Democratic budget has taken away from his fence)
Duncan Hunter promises to pardon Ramos and Compean, and has led the fight for a Congressional pardon.
Here are some videos about Dunacn Hunter, mostly about border security, but also on other issues:

Honestly, I have to admit that Duncan Hunter deserved Tancredo’s endorsement. Nobody else comes close on borders. Ron Paul might be next (but I remember he was quite “libertarian” on the issue a few years ago.) but Romney has the $$$$ so he has been able to buy everyone involved in the race.
Although I am a Huckabee suppporter, I want to officially say that Hunter deserved that endorsement. Romney is probably worse than any except McCain on the borders.

I heard that some posting boards are showing that posters who were previously for Tancredo say they will now back Hunter. Glad these folks have minds of their own.
And here’s more on Rudy:
“CNN clip:
Announcer: “Back in 1996, mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.”
Rudy Giuliani: “There isn’t a mayor or a public official in this country that’s more strongly pro immigrant than I am. Including disagreeing with President Clinton when he signed an anti-immigration legislation about two or three years ago.”‘

Curious George stole the words right out of my mouth … errr, … keyboard.
On the other hand, this might work out much as Sam Brownback’s departure did. While Sen. Brownback endorsed Sen. McCain, most of his supporters went elsewhere — either to Gov. Huckabee or Rep. Hunter.
Considering that Rep. Tancredo was (by his own admission) really a one-trick pony on the borders, I don’t think that there is a natural second choice other than Rep. Hunter for them. I hope, frankly, that they don’t have a fear of going to another “second-tier” candidate. No votes have been cast yet, so it’s far too early to be writing any serious candidate out.

Common sense tells me that Tancredo supporters would not easily jump to a top-tier candidate. They’d be there already. Tancredo supporters are good people, VERY principled and ‘idealistic’ (and I don’t mean that in a demeaning way, I’m an idealist myself…and proud of it)
By: thelastinkling on December 21, 2007

I think that “idealist” is a good word … We should all be idealists. Believe in something and stand for it. Don’t believe anything or support any candidate just because a poll says that everyone else does.
Sometimes, only the voice crying out alone in the wilderness is telling the truth.
Cynicism and politics have made “idealist” into a pejorative, but I don’t use it that way, and I don’t think you need to worry about anyone being offended. Real idealists know what the word means.
Even if you and I have chosen different candidates, I want to encourage you and wish you (almost) every success.
And if Hunter (my second choice, by the way) wins the nomination, you have full “I told you so” rights as I line up behind you to support him — which is not the case with supporters of other GOP candidates.

As the President of the Tancredo Fan Campaign, I want to thank you for the positive comments posted on this site, about Tom Tancredo. We are very sad he dropped out of the race. Most of us do not support Romney or the other “top-tier” and we do not support Huckabee. I like Duncan Hunter very much. I shook his hand at the Sept. 5th debate in New Hampshire. He’s a warm, genuine true Conservative and fellow Baptist believer.

Duncan Hunter was always my second choice. For conscience sake, I must turn my endorsement to Duncan at this time.

Nearly three years ago, about the time SPP was signed, I heard Tom Tancredo say “If this congress does not do something about the illegal immigration problem we have in this country, I will run for President in ‘08″ I began watching him then, and researching him. I have never been disappointed. I have anxiously worked to bring attention to his campaign and contributed to it knowing I was doing the right thing for America.
He is far from a one trick pony, but his aim from the beginning was to bring attention to our border and immigration issues because no one else was until mid October. Sadly the media has not been his friend, that means low poll numbers and few contributions to his campaign; it is as simple as that. I do not trust any of the ‘top tier’ candidates to keep America’s security on the front burner with Tom out of the race.
I cannot support Ron Paul at this time. His message would have played better in 2000, but his position on the war on terror terrifies me and we must have taxes to support today’s government.
That only leaves Duncan Hunter. I really believe he is stronger than Tom on trade and that is also a serious issue. I wish DH had shown more passion earlier in his campaign but I will trust no one now to protect America’s sovereignty and that was my number one issue from the beginning.

Most Tancredo supporters I know always had Duncan Hunter as a close second choice as the only other truly conservative voice. If Tancredo supporters were not principled, most would have jumped on board a top tier campaign alteady. Tancredo supporters are taking a moment to reflect, lick their wounds and mourn. But they will come out swinging and working hard to get the word out. Most on tancredofancampaign, com have already voiced support for Duncan Hunter and will redirect presidential campaign efforts. It is a similar situation at FireSociety.com and I am sure on other sites as well.

I for one am heartened to hear of principled conservatives. Today, I’ve just had one too many conversations with people willing to sacrifice excellence for expedience. Please accept my warmest thanks and also I’d like to wish everyone here a Merry Christmas

Tom Tancredo was my second choice, and I’m disappointed that he’s dropped out of the race. I also have to admit that I’m disappointed by his endorsement of Romney, although I can understand his reasoning behind it. I’m thankful that there are Tancredo supporters willing to support Hunter and to work to help him get elected. I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I am bouncing back. I put my heart and soul in the Tancredo Campaign for 8 months. Time is short now and to get Hunter’s numbers up we all have to spend as much time as possible on the internet posting on forums and instead of 20-30-50 forums with a handful of supporters each of those sites could have hundreds.
My home is http://www.firesociety.com but I posted for Tom every opportunity all across this Republic. I am stunned that Tom dropped out before the first vote was cast, but that is spilled milk. Real Patriot Conservatives have the sovereignty of our nation to save. Right?

Duncan is truly a fine choice . But i’m waiting a bit just for my own sake ! Tom Tancredo a great honest man for America is now out ! Except for DH and RP we’ve been had . Top 5 gop’s are Libs in fancy suits . I’m sure they can become progressive in the near future if we have one. America wake up !!! There’s No time left . As Jeff Beck said 20 years ago with “Nothing is Getting Done”. 20 years has gone by with same old , same old . We the People have little country left .
Ducan Hunter IMO , Honest . Tested . Non-CFR . Values & Morals = God Bless America

James,
I understand your grief at this time. Even though I was never really on the Tancredo bandwagon, I have great respect for him and mourn that the moderate party establishment has struck again… and it gives me more determination than ever.
Welcome aboard! I’m looking forward to us joining together and making a real stand in the coming election. You guys have been running a great campaign and we need your ideas, will, and hard work.

Hey, ten! Thank you for the welcome tli. The thing to do now is stop licking our wounds over Tom leaving the campaign. Those who supported him are not losers; America lost on December 20, 2007 but she can still be salvaged.
Romney, Giuliani, McCain, Thompson and Huckabee are dedicated to money and power. They will sell our soveriegnty out in a heartbeat and tell us it is for our own good.
Ron Paul will not protect us from terrorism. We cannot talk those people into being our friend, and his tax fantasy will take years to put into place and be workable… if at all.
Not as passionate, but just as trustworthy on securing the borders, controlling illegal immigration, and looking out for America’s interest in Trade, but with less money is Duncan Hunter.

I wouldn’t say DH isn’t as passionate, he just has a different composure that doesn’t exude as much passion. Just wait, you’ll see!

Do you know one of the primary reasons I went with Tom? Because Tom is bold about his faith when he speaks, even quoting the Bible. This is something I didn’t see in Duncan, though I know Duncan is a genuine believer. I like people who are bold about their faith in Christ.
Do you know the secondary reason I went with Tom? It’s because Tom came right out and said, “If elected President, I will kill this idea of a North American Union in it’s infancy.” I know that Duncan is against the NAU. I trust him on this. But he hasn’t passionately spoke out against it on the campaign trail.
Do you know the tertiary reason that I went with Tom? It’s because Tom is as bold as it gets when it comes to speaking out against sanctuary cities and the illegal alien crisis we have in our country. I was at the Newark, New Jersey press conference when Tom spoke out against Mayor Booker. I drove four hours to be with Tom and record video. I saw communist protesters threating Tom with hateful, violent speech. There’s no greater PATRIOT that I have seen than Tom. This is not the same kind of fire in his belly Patriot we have seen in Duncan.
These are some of the reasons why the Tancredo supporters went with Tom instead of Duncan. Duncan is reliable, but he does not have the same electricity that Tom has. This turned many of us off to Duncan. Duncan needs to get plugged into an outlet and get some real fire in his belly now, but, I have decided to endorse him for President, because my conscience cannot dictate to me to do anything else.
Quite honestly, Ron Paul scares me. His supporters scare me even more. They are antisemitic and extreme conspiracy theorists. For all I know, Ron Paul could turn out to be another Adolf Hitler. NO, I am not calling him that. But the thought has occurred to me. Furthermore, Ron Paul will not protect us from Islamic terrorists. He does not understand the religious nature to the threat of Islam.
Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani and McCain will all lead us into an NAU. msbobbie is correct on this.
So, it’s Duncan Hunter.
If you are interested in seeing the Tom Tancredo videos that I have taken, please feel free to visit:
http://www.youtube.com/james4tancredo
You’ll see the Newark, NJ videos there and see what I am talking about. And the speech from the Londonderry, NH GOP Breakfast will show you enough evidence that Tom is not a one trick pony.

Thank you for the links, Sean and thelastinkling. I have saved them to my easy access calender.
And thelastinkling (I am smiling) perhaps I should have said that Duncan is more composed than Tom instead of less passionate.
I have seen some passion in him when he talks about trade with China and how they are using our money to arm themselves. I am 100% certain President Duncan Hunter would pull that ‘most favored nation’ right out from under them.

If the presidential debates weren’t so bias we would know more about Duncan Hunter. Don’t let the media make your choice. If you want to keep your job, take a look at Duncan Hunter’s voting record past and present. He will keep the jobs here instead of sending them abroad. He is against NAFTA and CAFTA. He doesn”t flip flop all over the place like most of the front runners do. Also I trust him in the war on terror also on getting the fence built. Iam sure he will do that.

I have also became a Hunter supporter. Originally I supported Tancredo. Why in the world he went to Mit I have no idea, but like most, I see right through Mit for what he is. If Hunter will stick through it, so will I and will support him even if I have to write him in.
