Huckabee Wants Hunter as Secretary of Defense…. What about POTUS?

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

MIKE HUCKABEE

Huck’s Defense Secretary: Duncan Hunter

Also from that New York Times profile of Huckabee:

Huckabee has no military experience beyond commanding the Arkansas National Guard, but he doesn’t see this as an insuperable problem. ‘‘What you do,’’ he explained, ‘‘is surround yourself with the best possible advice.’’ The only name he mentioned was Representative Duncan Hunter of California. ‘‘Duncan is extraordinarily well qualified to be secretary of Defense,’’ he said.

Can we all agree that Duncan Hunter is going to be Secretary of Defense in the next Republican administration? Anybody have any major gripe with that?

  1. I think that Hunter would make a wonderful DefSec, or even VP. He’s a little light on executive experience for my taste as President, though he is my (very close) second choice.

4 or 8 years in the Executive Branch, and I can’t think of a single reason not to back him for the top of the ticket.

  2. He’s got my vote in the primaries for POTUS, as well as my (modest) financial support. But, should he not get the nomination, I think he would be an excellent VP or Sec. of Defense.

  3. I personally hope that Duncan Hunter would be Mike Huckabee’s V.P. choice. If for no other reason that I think it would give Duncan a chance to become President!

Nothing would disappoint me more than for Duncan Hunter to drop out of politics completely. Hunter is really my first choice, but for some reason he cannot get traction and it is too late now for it to “happen” for him.
