From Quin Hillyer at Human Events: (http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=22774)
[F]ormer Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is about as economically conservative as was liberal New York Republican Governor Nelson Rockefeller — which means that on substance at least, Huckabee absolutely stunk up the stage, especially when he refused to back President George W. Bush’s veto of the crazily socialistic expansion of the SCHIP children’s health program. (Huckabee was so liberal overall that Clinton’s lefty former Labor Secretary positively gushed over him in post-debate analysis on CNBC.)
Guys,
please be careful on how try post stuff.
Do your home work. Quin is not the unbiased person you would like to believe. He also doesn’t support Hunter –
We are all working toward a common goal – Getting a conservative person in the Whitehouse. We might think that different people fill that slot, but the truth is that we are on the same team.
When you post slanderous articles, they will come back to haunt you. When you do this today, someone will do something similar tomorrow to Hunter.
Mike’s record speaks for itself – he is a fiscal and social conservative – Hunter has some tremendous qualities – and if Hucakbee wasn’t running, I would most likey be supporting him.
Quin has an axe to grind – on October 10th and the 24th, it was with Huckabee – The Huckabee camp has responded to these lies.
Mike does not support S-CHIP as the bill was introduced.

From the Wall Street Journal:
Mike Huckabee:
Unfortunately, there seems to be a serious misunderstanding about my SCHIP comment at a recent presidential debate.
I was not criticizing President Bush’s veto as a matter of policy, but as a matter of politics. I fully believe that Bush should have negotiated a compromise and not let it get to the point of a veto. Bush indicated he was willing to spend more than the $5 billion he originally proposed, but less than the $35 billion the Democrats pushed through, so there was clearly room to negotiate. In no way do I support spending an additional $35 billion, or moving two million children from private insurance to government insurance, or letting SCHIP be a step on the path to socialized medicine.<<
You really might do more good for Mr. Hunter if you spent more time being “FOR” him and less time being “AGAINST” everyone else.

Mike Huckabee? Are you kidding? Who are you people?
Arkansas Governer Mike Huckabee suddenly seems to be the established GOP savior. True, he is great on the stump. He is and should be a preacher. But president? NOT if you’re a conservative!
Remember, a lot of Arkansans voted for a Clinton presidency so they could get him out of the state! Most of them feel as
uninspired about the Huckster. YES, I do mean Huckster.
I made a prediction a few months back, that Huckabee would get a GOP push, that he would be perfect pick to them to balance out a moderate Rudy type candidate with his southern charm and religiosity. Now, I’m convinced of it.
A wise observer stated one of Huck’s problems perfectly, “Yep Huckabee is his own man alright, except when it comes to illegal immigration. Then he’s George Bush.”
Huck talks some good lines on immigration in the debates, but look at some recent statements he’s made. In other words, does this man stand by his own policies? One thing that has angered Arkansans is that Huck financed a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock with their tax dollars and insisted on alien children be admitted to college!
LITTLE ROCK -June 30, 2005 – In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.
“I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families …,” Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.
Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.
In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.
“Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority,” Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state’s capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.
“Your gathering is so very significant for our state,” Huckabee said. “We are delighted to have you……”
He has compared illegal aliens to slaves brought here in chains from Africa, saying, “I think frankly the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before.”
Toward that end, when an Arkansas legislator introduced a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting and receiving state benefits, Huckabee denounced the bill, saying it would rile up “those who are racist and bigots.”
He also made the insane point that companies like Toyota would not invest in Arkansas if the state didn’t allow non-citizens to vote because it would “send the message that, essentially, ‘If you don’t look like us, talk like us and speak like us, we don’t want you.’
One other bone of contention is shown in this video, where Huckabee Calls for National Smoking Ban in Public Places. Nanny state, anyone?
Ann Coulter sums it up:
“Like all the (other) Democratic candidates for president, he supports a federal law to ban smoking — unless you’re an illegal alien smoking at a Toyota plant. (I just realized why Mike Huckabee can’t run for president as a Democrat — they’ve already got Mike Gravel.)”

* Securing our borders must be our top priority and has reached the level of a national emergency.
* The Governor supports the $3 billion the Senate has voted for border security. This money will train and deploy 23,000 more agents, add four drone planes, build 700 miles of fence and 300 miles of vehicle barriers, and put up 105 radar and camera towers. This money will turn “catch and release” into “catch and detain” of those entering illegally, and crack down on those who overstay their visas.
* In this age of terror, immigration is not only an economic issue, but also a national security issue. Those caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported.
* The Governor opposes and will never allow amnesty. He opposed the amnesty President Bush and Senator McCain tried to ram through Congress this summer, and opposed the misnamed DREAM Act, which would have put us on the slippery slope to amnesty for all.
* The Governor opposes and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine our economy and national security.
* The Governor opposes giving driver’s licenses to illegals and supports legislation to prevent states from doing so.
* The Governor will stop punishing cities which try to enforce our laws and protect the economic well-being, physical safety, and quality of life of their citizens.
* The Governor opposes and will not tolerate employers who hire illegals. They must be punished with fines and penalties so large that they will see it is not worth the risk.
* The Governor opposes the economic integration of North America that would create open borders among the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He will never yield one iota or one inch of our sovereignty.
* The Governor will take our country back for those who belong here. No open borders, no amnesty, no sanctuary, no false Social Security numbers, no driver’s licenses for illegals.
Governor Huckabee knows that securing our borders must be our top priority and has reached the level of a national emergency. He is as sick and tired as you are that it is harder for us to get on an airplane in our home town than it is for all these illegals to cross our international border unchallenged.
We cannot stem the tide of illegals until we turn the tide. Before you fix the damage to your house caused by a leaking roof, you have to stop the leak, which the Governor is determined to do.
The Governor supported the $3 billion Congress passed this summer for border security. This desperately-needed money will train and deploy 23,000 more agents, add four drone planes, build 700 miles of fence and 300 miles of vehicle barriers, and put up 105 radar and camera towers. This money will turn “catch and release” into “catch and detain” of those entering illegally and crack down on those who overstay their visas.
But where is this $3 billion? The President threatened to veto the bill it was part of! Now the Senate has again voted for this money as part of the Defense Bill. The Governor will continue to fight until we get these funds.
In this age of terror, immigration is not only an economic issue, but also a national security issue. We must know who is coming into our country, where they are going, and why they are here. All those who are caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported. As Governor, he ordered his state troopers to work with the Department of Homeland Security to arrest illegals and enforce federal immigration law.
The Governor opposes and will never allow amnesty. He passionately rejected the amnesty bill that President Bush and Sen. McCain tried to ram through Congress this summer after secret meetings of an under-the-radar cabal of amnesty-loving senators.
The Governor opposed the misnamed DREAM Act, which was a nightmare because it would have put us on the slippery slope to amnesty for all. Because once we open that door even a crack, we’ll never get it closed again.
The Governor opposes and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must enforce our existing laws by cracking down on rogue cities and towns that willfully undermine our economy and our homeland security by giving benefits and protection to illegals. The consequences for illegal entry must be swift, certain, and uniform throughout our country.
The Governor opposes giving driver’s licenses to illegals, such as Governor Spitzer is trying to do in New York. The Governor supports legislation that would prevent the states from granting this privilege to illegals. In 2005, he signed legislation that prevents illegals in Arkansas from getting driver’s licenses.
The Governor will stop punishing cities which are trying to enforce our laws. He will appoint judges who will uphold the law, not side with the ACLU against cities like Hazelton, Pennsylvania, which are trying to protect the economic well-being, physical safety, and quality of life of their citizens.
The Governor will not tolerate employers who hire illegals – they must be punished by fines and penalties so large that they will understand it is not worth the risk. Once again, as with Hazelton, liberal judges are gumming up the works. Right now, a court in San Francisco — Pelosiland – has delayed enforcement of the “no match” letters for Social Security numbers that the Department of Homeland Security will use to crack down on those who hire illegals. If illegals cannot find work, they will go back where they belong. The Governor will do everything he can to hasten their trip home by denying them employmeThe Governor strongly opposes the economic integration of North America that would have open borders among the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He knows we must have closed and secure borders. He will never yield either one inch or one iota of our sovereignty. He will recognize no authority but our Constitution.
Governor Huckabee will take our country back for those who belong here and those who are willing to play by the rules for the privilege to come here. No open borders, no amnesty, no sanctuary, no false Social Security numbers, no driver’s licenses for illegals.

“Grassroots HQ”?? Haha!
It’s sad that your HQs is dominated by posts from Huckabee supporters. When was the last time a Duncan Hunter supporter made a comment on here? Wait, are there any besides you?
He’s a good man, but will be dropping out soon. It’s time to pack up this dog and pony show.

So Random does not speak for Huckabee supporters.
We do want to see Duncan get some traction. He has an important message that needs to get out. Keep on!

Just watch… Duncan’s message is on its way to the top. His appearance on Headline News with Glenn Beck will help a lot.
