Project Tally Ho! Helpsheet Number 1
CARTOPPERS
One Sheet of A/B Plywood becomes One Dozen Cartoppers by the following method.
a. Saw the sheet of plywood into 12 eight strips, four feet long. They’ll be approximately 1/2 inch thick by eight inches wide.
b. Using the least expensive white EXTERIOR paint, apply the first coat on both sides and all the edges.
c. By the time you finish the first coat on all, the first sheet you painted may be dry enougn to repaint with the second (last) coat.
Remember to do all the edges again.
d. Have a couple quarts of enamel (one white, one red) to letter the sign on both sides.
e. The message need only say HUNTER/ 2008.
f. These board signs can be used by attaching them securely ACROSS the top of a vehicle. (This includes the cab of a truck.)
Sideboards or racks on cattle trucks, etc.can carry one-sided signs on each side. JUST BE CERTAIN that all signs are secure, even if they have to be ‘guyed’ with bungie cords ot straps or wire or cord. Don’t be shy about asking for advice on securing signs.
Brushes need not be expensive ones. Keep’em cleaned, and they will last for a decent amount of production time. So you’ve the paint, plywood, brush and whatever other costs you spend for horse saws or other structure you use to lay the material on while sawing, painting and lettering. A small group can knock out a dozen of these in a morning or afternoon (if the weather permits). I hope you can get a dozen done by tomorrow, and get them circulating around Iowa, or wherever in America you may happen to be. My e-mail is howardoc29351 (at)yahoo (dot) com. I’m here to consult, advise and encourage. Keep in touch.
Lo-Tech, High Effect methods work. Been there, done that.
